A
1991 graduate of the University of Missouri - Columbia, Sheree Behrndt
earned a bachelor of science in Occupational Therapy. She has been
practicing Occupational Therapy both in the clinic and home environment
for 15 years.
Soon after graduating, Sheree recognized the importance of Sensory
Integration therapy for Sensory Processing Disorder. Because the
sensory system is the foundation for all development, a child with
developmental delays may never reach his full potential without
this fundamental therapy that "organizes" the sensory
system.
In addition to Sensory Integration Therapy, Sheree specializes
in Feeding Therapy - helping children who cannot maintain a healthy
diet due to their inability to eat. Whether they have sensory issues
that prevent them from eating foods with certain textures, an over-sensitive
gag reflex, or myriad other issues that cause these children to
breakdown at mealtime, Sheree has a tremendous success rate with
getting these children to increase their diet.
"I
have not only provided therapy to children with delays but am also
the parent of a child with delays in Sensory Processing. Being on
both sides of this condition has helped me educate families and
help them understand the daily struggles they face. There are no
words to explain the way I feel knowing that I am making a difference
in the lives of a child and her family - differences that will last
them a lifetime. I honestly feel that I have the most rewarding
job there is. I am truly blessed to be given the opportunity to
care for these young patients and their families."
