Occupational therapy includes services to address the functional need of a child related to adaptive development, adaptive behavior as well as play, sensory, motor and postural development. These services are designed to improve the child's functional ability to perform tasks in home, school, and community settings.
Occupational therapists at Sensory Solutions use a sensory integrative approach which works to activate the body’s different sensory systems including our movement system (vestibular), our muscle position system (propricoptive), tactile system, visual system, auditory system, olfactory (smell) system and gustatory (taste) system. By impacting these systems, we can see changes in areas of difficulty including: feeding skills, grooming, dressing, bowel/bladder control, sleep, fine motor skills, attention and behavior.
Our occupational therapists are trained in programs such as Therapeutic
Listening, Handwriting
Without Tears, and SOS
Feeding Approach and use these and other therapeutic interventions to create unique, client-centered treatment plans for each child.
