"We started Occupational Therapy at a new center in Creve Coeur called Sensory Solutions. Therapy is centered around Sensory Integration. He has only been 4 times, but what a difference already. He has gone from "in his own world" to engaging, compassionate and inquisitive. His temper tantrums have been traded in for "I want to play" and "Please go to Grandma's house". Before, he would not answer simple questions like "What is your name"" or "How are you?" Now, he is answering others questions and asking lots of them too! His motor skills are much better too. He can do puzzles that frustrated him before and even lace beads on a string, which was a huge frustration for him even a month ago. We still have a way to go. But as a former educator myself, I can say that the fear of neurological disorders that were in the back of my mind before, are very much rested."

And every day I think of how that is because of YOU both. He's a good sleeper now. He's even trying new foods! He has no problems getting haircuts and does not stop talking! "I can't express how much I owe all the wonderful people at Sensory Solutions. My son, Michael, was born with a skin and nerve disease called Neurofibromatosis (NF for short). He was also born with a vision problem. When he started having therapy he was 9 months old & was not able to do much of anything except lie on the floor. Once his therapy started he was sitting up/rolling over & trying to "combat" crawl in a short period of time. He has been receiving Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy since August 2000 and started Speech Therapy in January 2002. Michael's therapists are wonderful people. I feel that without the therapy they do, Michael could not be doing as well as he's doing. On days that Michael is giving them all kinds of trouble about doing therapy they always remain calm and loving. They have a way of convincing him that he wants to "play" with them. Michael loves spending time "playing" with all three of his therapist. Every morning he asks me who is coming and calls them all by name. Not always the correct sounding name, but it's the name he has for them. When he finds out which person is coming on that day, his comment is always "play." I let him know that they will be here to play and he is so excited he yells "YEAH!!". If I ever had to go through a child needing therapy again I would call Sensory Solutions immediately. I highly recommend this company and I trust them with one of my most precious gifts ... my child."
