Occupational therapy includes services to address the functional need of a child related to adaptive development, adaptive behavior as well as play, sensory, motor and postural development. These services are designed to improve the child's functional ability to perform tasks in home, school, and community settings.
Occupational therapists at Sensory Solutions use a sensory integrative approach which works to activate the body's different sensory systems including our movement system (vestibular), our muscle position system (propricoptive), tactile system, visual system, auditory system, olfactory (smell) system and gustatory (taste) system. By impacting these systems, we can see changes in areas of difficulty including: feeding skills, grooming, dressing, bowel/bladder control, sleep, fine motor skills, attention and behavior.
Our occupational therapists are trained in programs such as Therapeutic Listening, Handwriting Without Tears, and SOS Feeding Approach and use these and other therapeutic interventions to create unique, client-centered treatment plans for each child.
We are certified in iLs (Integrated Listening System), iLs are based on the fact that we can change our brain – we can essentially re-wire it through specific and repeated stimulation, a concept known as neuroplasticity. As in building strength and endurance with physical exercise, we are able to build neurological pathways and synaptic activity at any age.

Testimonials
"His speech grammar is so much better and clearer to understand. He sometimes bunch them together, but not all the time. He exercises more now. We have to sit with him and work with him with his drawing. We fail at that, but will get on it. But we are very pleased with the growth and excited to see the full blossom."
"Prior to receiving physical therapy services through Sensory Solutions and working with Megan, our one year old daughter was struggling with her movement and unable to crawl or walk. We met with Megan virtually due to the pandemic and were so impressed with how quickly we started seeing positive changes and never had to leave our living room. Megan was so patient, understanding, and caring! She helped to validate our feelings and normalize our concerns. In less than four months, our daughter was not only crawling but walking, and she was back on schedule with reaching developmental milestones! We are so grateful for the support, guidance, and knowledge that Sensory Solutions provided us with! "
